Hood Bumper Adjustment

Hey all, silly question here. Can anyone tell me how to loosen the hood bumper stops on the core support of the 73-80 trucks? There are two interlocking metal tabs that kind of fold into each other. Before I bend and break something, I thought I would ask for help.

Do I have to bend open the tabs where they lock together, or do I just grab the top one with a channel lock and loosen it like a jam nut? Smile at it and ask it politely to let go?

Thanks!

Yes, if I remember correctly, that's how they work. The design doesn't allow it to back off very much, but should be just enough to allow the bolt to turn for adjustment. Some penetrating oil might help if there is any rust on them.
