Front and rear gear oil. Pics inside. Need help.

during Harvey Water came up to the top of the bumpers for 4 days. Since August Of last year the truck has been driven about 50 miles. I started hearing
like metal to metal breaking. Pulled brake caliper off and the whole rotor slid right out LMMFAO. So after a complete rebuild including new rotor spindles I need to put new gear oil in. How much oil for front and how much for rear? I dont think i need to fill to top of drain plug, or do I?

Wow! Yes, fill it until it starts coming out of the fill hole. When its filled correctly there should be oil in the axle tubes, not full, but enough to keep things happy.

I've heard just below the fill hole but I just fill it til it runs out. There's a special Kent-Moore SPX J-tool dipstick for the later model T800 & later light truck axles because some genius at GM decided the bottom of the fill hole needed to be above the actual oil level instead of the way it was for 60 or so years before.

80W90 GL-5 dinosaur juice in the front and 75W90 GL-5 dinosaur juice in the rear. The owners manual or service manual will have the dry fill amounts. It's somewhere around 2 quarts or a bit more.
No limited slip additive needed and absolutely don't use it if your RPO tag lists G80... unless you know there's an aftermarket limited slip diff installed in there.
Don't bother with synthetic oils in these axles.

Avoid gear oil that says Energy Conserving on the API seal if you have the optional GM Eaton G80 locker.

Re: Front and rear gear oil. Pics inside. Need help.

sorry but me thinks the wheel bearing damage was way before the 50 miles after the flood .

if that had the correct amount of grease in the hubs and water got in then it would be gunky and slimy not dryed up and burnt to a crisp .

as said tho . 75-90 oil or 80-90 oil nothing special .

side note I would be checking other fluids condition after seeing this .
