Show us Yer Battery!

Where do you put your battery?

Im trying to decide whether to use the original battery position or whether to hide it away somewhere.

What options are there? On the frame or behind the seats? Anything else?

Re: Show us Yer Battery!

I put my battery behind the passenger side on the frame. You really need the bed on to do this so you get proper position. I also put a cut off switch along the way to the starter so I can shut the battery off from the rest of the truck. I only left the stereo hooked up to keep the memory. As soon as I get a new bed I will try and have an access door from the top like I did with the temp plywood I used. I also cut out the old battery box indent on the inner fender. I had to cut up a left inner fender to do it but it wasn't a very good one so I didn't feel to guilty.
If you check out my build thread and go to page 5 that is where the battery box starts.

Chevy, did you buy a kit? Or did you fab up your own box? I love the location of that setup. I'm wondering how the weight distribution of the battery in the middle/rear, along with a tank relocation is affected by these two moves.

Re: Show us Yer Battery!

Typical, Ive just mounted the exhaust hangers in exactly that spot! But its still an option as the exhaust Ive put on is only temporary and I think I will end up moving it. However, Id rather not cut a hole in the bed. I guess I could mount it under the cab onto the frame in the same way. Im sure I have some Anderson plugs somewhere that I could use to connect to the terminals if they are difficult to get into.

Re: Show us Yer Battery!

I bought a battery tray from Summit. I is the same as the one you see in the picture of fredhlynch2 post.
I only cut the hole for a different access. You can still do it from under the truck. I just wanted easy access for now.
