Looking for an intake manifold gasket set for a small block. I used Fel-Pro, but had coolant leaks. Aluminum intake and heads, vortec from Edelbrock.

I used some $50 dollar felpro gaskets for a 98 chevy 1500 5.7 350 they work good minus the rtv leak where i didnt use enough

Maybe your block was decked. Mating surface between the intake and head could be unparrallel. Or too tight on the end rails.

Fel-pro is about the best you can get.

Both sides leaked on the center ports, but not on the ends. I followed standard practice of running rtv across the valley and around the end ports, very thin around the ports, which might be what went wrong. Edelbrock says to use Edelbrock #7235, GM #12529094; or Fel-Pro #1255. I used the Fel-Pro since I could buy them locally, and I knew they were good. That was 5 years ago, truck has sat in garage without running much.

I was having issues, pulled the intake and found the leaks. Looking locally, I will have to order any of the intake gaskets.

Hmm I used the FelPro Q1255 on the Edelbrock 170cc E-tecs in my Camino and they have sealed just fine. What intake are you using? (please tell me it's not "professional Products" with the notoriously warped flange)

The latest/best Vortec intake gaskets to use, come in the Fel Pro #MS98000T set. That set isn't cheap, but I haven't heard any negative reviews on those gaskets.

Unfortunately the only way to get them is in this set.

I have used the updated gaskets from GM in the past without issue, but I have not used the #1255 gaskets.

capt fab i think i got those same gaskets at advance auto for 50 something came with a lot of gaskets I didnt need though no valvecover gasets either

Update. I took the head and intake to the pros at Saum Engineering in Wichita. Had to get an insert in a spark plug hole, and got advice on assembly.

The intake was leaking around all 4 water passages. I would call it seepage. This wicked coolant to the top of the gaskets, and over to the intake passages. Cause was from not extending the bead of RTV from the valley around the water ports. Edelbrock instructions say to end the bead where the head meets the valley, which is what I had done. They said the Fel-Pro gaskets were as good as any and to use the ultra-grey rtv.

When you're dead, it's only a problem for the people around you, because you don't know you're dead. .....It's kinda the same when your STUPID. I just did my taxes and reviewed my SS statement. Thanks to the current administration it looks like I will only have to work till noon on the day of my funeral.
