So you did the 700r4 let loose or you just wanted to upgrade/refresh?

Re: You have too much HP when....

Upgrade really, the 1800 stall converter was too low for the ZZ4. The previous rebuild would lock the converter in 3rd. Even in 3rd the motor bogged down too much. A new 2500 RPM stall should do the trick.
The 3-4 clutches and band were burned up. I have a nice reminder down the street. Tire marks will be there for months!

I can't wait to try the full throttle 3-4 upshift. The option was available on police and some performance cars. The new hard parts should hold up to 600 ft/lbs of torque. All the shifts will be positive and firm. I'm waiting for an Edelbrock bracket for the TV cable. I did not run one before, but this time I will. Don't want to be set back again.
The rebuild is a level 4 Raptor. http://www.transmissioncenter.net/700MegaRaptor.htm
The previous rebuild had some updated parts so the costs could have been higher. This time, 12 months or 12,000 miles because it should hold. The tranny guy says I'll be smiling ear to ear.

Notice the large cover on the servors? Both the servors were upgraded. The Corvette servo was replaced with a larger one. The only thing missing is a Vette govenor. I have one ready to put in. I'll wait to see how the stock one holds up. If shifts are under 5000 RPMs, the Vette governor goes in.

You can never have too much power...

I wont tell you what it cost me to upgrade the 4L60E in my 98 Formula, everything on that page except the planetary set, mainly because mine was in good shape and it isnt in a heavy truck. Building your own has its advantages, but you only have yourself to blame when it breaks or doesnt work right...

Re: You have too much HP when....

I drove a 355 HP formula that had a similiar build 4L60E. The tranny was awsome in such a light car. The rear would nearly break loose on all shifts.
