posi or not to posi
that is the question.. heh
GM 12 bolt, empty housing currently, the truck will be driven as a weekend cruise 99% of the time, but will drive 150+ miles to commerce at least once in a while to the super chevy show and to several other shows hopefully. I'm shooting for 400hp, th400, SWB frame so no severe torque lost with the long driveshaft, I can geat an eaton posi for $330, should I spend the extra money or just leave it an open 3.73? I know questions like this popup all the time, but, I just had some specific goals that may or may not change the outcome. I've been thinking the same thing. I've been looking into a locker. Mines is a daily driver with about a 350-400HP 400. I want it to hook up so I think I'm going with a locker.

if its a daily driver then why bother. If you wanna do some burnouts, weekend hotrodding then opt for a posi.then youll have to buy 2 new tires instead of 1.

lol, well I can't have that much fun around here.. you get a $200 fine for squealing tires at all around here.. but I'd like to run the 1/4 up at the super chevy show just to see what I get, and leaving a few hondas behind on the street would always be nice

posi is nice. Ive got about the same drivetrain(motor too) with an open rear end and its not fun. I can tell you some tires that hook up well tho. I had some bfg goodrich at's on it. they slid around every where, no grip whatsoever. I went to michelin xcx/apt (about 115 a piece balanced and mounted) its an AT tire 31.5 inches tall and the only time it spins is in corners.
Spinning tires sounds fun at first but eventually you realize it doesnt get respect it gets laughs and cost valuable seconds while walking over toyoda's mitslowies and Gondas. |
