has any one out there used bushwacker cutout flares on there 73/87 pickups?what do you juys think of them?do they make the guard opening any bigger?any photos of trucks with them?thanks!

They will give You about 2.5" additional clearance at the front and rear of the fenders.I had them on a '77.I had 38's with a 6" lift.

i think the ones i had gave me about 4 inchs more clearance but we modified them sum and no i dont have any pics of the blazer its long gone, rolled it at tellico, and brought it back and parted it

Hey K20,You asked if they will make the guard opening bigger.You are talking about the wheel opening,right?Yes they do.Basically,they will allow you to go one notch larger tire without additional lift.Does Bushwacker have a website you can check?I`ve called their 800 number and they were really helpful.They used to sell flares in pairs.Now it seems they only come in 4-sets.I had a damaged rear one on my Blazer.I didn`t want to have to buy a whole set.I called them and they let me buy a rear pair directly from them.Another time,I needed a front pair for a truck I was mounting a utility bed on.Again,they sold me a front pair directly.

thanks special-k,im not sure yet if i will go for them yet,i like the look of them,but it looks like you would need a fairly wide set of tyres and rims to come out flush with the flares,we have regulations on track widths over here.are they very hard to fit?

I think it is close to 3" of coverage.Not hard to install.They have instructions on thier site,...www.bushwacker.com

the "dot"specks say that 8" rims are maximum,but i was going to go for a set of 16.5/9.75 m/t classic rims,would these come out to the edge of the flare?

no mate you are on the right track,i was originally talking about guard opening,but then i thought that because of how far the flares stickout,i would need wide tyres of big offset!

I had the bumper made at a local welding shop. I used a Holmes 440 wrecker bumper for a pattern. I'll take some pics of the backside and send them your way tomorrow night.
