Rev Kit

I thinking of going with a retro hydralic roller camshaft with the retro style roller lifters with the link bars. Do I need a "Rev Kit"? or are those only for mechanical roller cams and lifters? can anyone enlighten me on this should I get a rev kit or not?? Thanks

Cool Re: Rev Kit

You do not need a rev kit to run a retro style roller camshaft and lifters.

You can run a rev kit on a hydralic camshaft. Any Camshaft for that matter. Roller, non-roller, solid, hydralic

A Rev kit applies additional spring pressure to the lifter body, not the plunger. This improves valvetrain stability which results in more power at higher RPM without any loss in low end torque.

As for you buying one it depends on how you plan on running the engine.

If you plan on being above 6500rpm very much then I could see a use for one but, if not the only gain you will see is better valvetrain stability. Which in it self is a good thing.Your engine will live a long happy life without one also.

Now if you are planing on turning your engine up in the rpm scale then yes they can make a GR8 improvement in the 6000 and above rpm range. some tests have shown as much as 100HP gains at 6500rpm.

Hope it helps.
