2001 Silverado taillighs

I just bought a 2001 Silverado a love it. I just don't care for the taillights. I think the 03+ are nicer (love the 2003-current stock ones) Are they interchangable. I know they fit but the wiring might be different. Any help?

How did you make them work? Did you remove the taillight wires from a doner 03+ silverado truck? Then cut and splice them in to your 99-02 truck.

Re: 2001 Silverado taillighs

I did this on my '99 truck. IIRC, all I did was file a tab off one of the lamp plugs & they fit w/o any other problems. It was real easy to do & only took about 10 minutes for each side to do from beginning to end.

Bobbyh68,

What did you wind up doing? Did you get the tail lights you were wanting and how did you get them to work? I'm interested to know what you did because I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I bought a truck that has some carbon fiber euro's on it, and I'm just not too sure if I'm going to keep them. Thanks in advance.

Cory
