Back Open Hood

I have seen a couple of trucks (55 to 59) in the shows with hoods that open from the back hinge in front
anyone have one of these and do you like it ?

Re: Back Open Hood

Cal has one. I'm sure he will chime in.
Question on hoods.
How much different is a 55-57 to 58-59? I'd love to do this to my hood and wondered if these kits could be adapted ( since a 58-59 kit is not offered) with out to much work to my hood.

Re: Back Open Hood

I've always wondered why reverse it except "because". It seems to me it would make access to the front of the engine for maintenance and viewing harder. Now a full tilt front end.....

Re: Back Open Hood

I did it on a toyota 4runner when I was younger. It made it really hard to work on the engine. I like the look, however, with the wide fenders on these trucks I couldn't imagine try'n to work on the engine. It might stop the hood from fly'n open at speeds above 150..lol

Re: Back Open Hood

i dont have one but No-Limit sells them. they are just for looks, i dont really care for them too much because when i look at them all i see is brackets and supports holding the hood open, doesnt look natural to me, like the stock hinges do. in other words it cluters up the engine compartment in my opinion. some guys use them to get away from the dreaded "back edge" hood alignment problem, (which i have)

Re: Back Open Hood

There is a kit you can buy from No Limit. They are for 55 to 57 only. It's not that hard to install, it just takes some time making adjustments. It comes powder coated black. I took mine down to the chrome shop for a littal added bling. Here's the link to their web site.http://nolimit.net/prodinfo.asp?number=CTHK-557

Re: Back Open Hood

I noticed last night that Performance On Line has a kit listed for 55-59 trucks. Aren't 58-59 hoods a little longer than 55-57?

Cal - how easy does the hood come completely off if you need to work from the front??

Re: Back Open Hood

Brothers use to list a 55-59 tilt kit as well. I emailed them about it and it was soon changed. I also wonder how much different the 58-59 hoods are to the 55-57.

Re: Back Open Hood

Hey Cal, Your truck is just amazining. You could mount a fresh turd on your hood and it would still look good. The tilt looks great on your truck.
