weird RPO code

so a buddy of mine and i were talking the other evening and he says hes got a truck with a RPO code that says D94 touch up paint. I havent ever seen nor heard of this code and im thinking to myself this must be a typo. so late at night here i am searching all the spid pictures i can find looking for one with this code and wow there was one i found with this on it. Does anyone know what this might have been? i have no clue. i posted a pic of the spid i found on this site for reference.

First one of those I have seen. Don't believe I have seen seen Export preparation either. Interesting label.

Re: weird RPO code

Maybe the person who created the SPID sheets in Canada, had more time than his/her counterparts in the States.

Re: weird RPO code

Just a guess here, but perhaps it was a special order pickup from the dealer? Again, just a guess.... ?

So,you mean "solid paint" as opposed to "two-tone" that was standard on CSTs? So,it's just a funny way of typing the description? It does only list Gold as the color.

Re: weird RPO code

Is that truck in Canada? The spid looks a lot like the spid's on the trucks that were sold new here in Sweden by GM dealers. They use to have the same "wierd" codes. I don't know what the touch up paint really was but I have seen it on several spids here in Sweden. The U18 SPEEDOMETER EQUIP is a Kilometer speeedo. I have been told here on this forum the kilo speedo didn't came in Canadian cars/trucks until later in the 70's so there wouldn't have been any of this generation trucks sold in Canada with a kilo speedo.
See the attatched "Swedish" spids.

Re: weird RPO code

I didn't see that I posted a pic of the same spid as the one in the first post. That truck belongs to "Tomme" here in Sweden if he haven't sold it. I met him several times and I think he also is a member on this board.

Re: weird RPO code

Maybe GM figured that if they had to ship them very far it was more likely that they would get a scratch or two along the way.

Re: weird RPO code

I wondered if the speedo was KPH,but no? It does appear to be Canadian built. Were they not offered for Europe? I'm thinking the cert. plate has to do with different emissions equipt?

Tim, I don't know for sure, it is a funny description.. But I bet that truck had a bottle of 526 med gold poly touch up paint in the glovebox.

Also Guys, the vin says it was built in Oshawa.
z49 is canadian mandatory base equipment export..... Don't know what that is
v78 is vehicle statement delete or less certificate plate.... Don't know what that is
u18 is kilo speedometer

Re: weird RPO code

i figured it was just a can of paint included in with the truck. i don't have a picture of his spid but it is a lower optioned 69 chevy truck. basic heater, line 6 and so on. It is a Canadian truck but does not have a kilometer speedometer and was not exported.
