painting noob question!
I have a 65 chevy truck. I am reparing rust trough spot very slowly. i want to paint my truck cheaply. I have a small air compressor. the truck was painted i guess 10 years ago or so. what is the best way to go about painting it. Like just buzz down the rust and paint left on it now and high build prime it and then paint it? I am going to paint it satin black. one day i will blow the whole truck apart but i want it to look a little better now. any input is welcomed. Thanks

Re: painting noob question!
Basically prep any rust and spots that need it. Then primer those spots with a good primer. Then sand the complete truck. Finish with 320. Then you can spray the paint of your choice. Since you want a matte black finish, be sure and have a very dust free area to spray in. Rent a booth if you can.
Matte black finishes are harder than they look to paint...at least to make them the way they are supposed to look (no streaks, no dirt, little orange peel) This is a jeep I just did last week. Good luck to you!
