Restoration details, please read!

Hi there. I am restoring a 1968 GMC. I have been looking for the correct color for the steering column. Some people say they were color matched with the body. My truck is white, so im kinda lost if i should use white or black. Another posibility is red, as the seats and panels. Another issue i need help with is the position of the square, blue "GM Mark Of Excellence" decal on the inside of the door. Somebody has a pic i can use as a reference? Thanks!

I'm not 100% on the 68, but think it's the same as my 71. The column is painted the color of the glove box door.

Ahhh... it all makes sense now.
THAT'S why my steering column is woodgrain.

j/k
