does this sound like a good setup (motor)

just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me, if anything doesn't sound like it goes well with the rest of the stuff, im not real thrilled with my E.T. from this weekend. okay here goes. block is a 400 bored .030 over, stock crank internally balanced, 5.7 rods with speedpro pistons making 11.5:1 comp. dart iron eagle heads with 215cc intake runners and 2.05, 1.60 valves. crower hydraulic cam with specs of 302 duration, 565 lift after calculating in the 1.6 roller rockers. intake is a victor jr. with a 2 inch 4 hole spacer. a 750 holley vacum secondary, hooker super comps, a mallory unilite and an msd 6al. i know it was the first time out but it only went 13.2 at 101 mph. does this sound right, it this all i can expect???? any help will be greatly appreciated, im no race engine builder. Thanks, Devin

13.2 is pretty quick..that puts you in the 400HP range. What are your 60' times and 1/8 mile time and MPH. What gear and stall are you running?. First thing I see that is missed matched is the 750VS carb. I have a milder 355, and im running a custom 750DP jet way fatter than your Vacuum 750. Are you running the muncie ? If so, a double pumper will pick up some ET(properly set up) Talk to Ty at TPC carbs http://www.tpcracing.com/testimonials.html
The red one is my carb..also what rpm do you shift at?..I hate hydrolics for drag racing...a solid would help a ton too
Jim
You can go here to figure your HP from ET and MPH...at 4100lbs @ 101mph it is 329 RWHP or ruffly 400 FWHP http://www.prestage.com/carmath/calc_ETMPH.asp

"Only" 13.2? Man, you are flying! Don't forget these trucks are heavy (the front half, especially)- a little tweaking and fine tuning and you are going to be running into the 12s-give yourself some credit, it'll get there

I think you need a carb with mechanical secondary's. Also what kind of tranny u running? Your cam has alot of lift and duration. These trucks don't have much rear trac. off the line, may try to relocate some weight to the rear and get some kind of street drag tire, along with some skinny's upfront. If your hard core you could sitch to manual steering and a 2 core radiator if you just drag race.

i was thinking the same thing on the carb. plugs look good but im sure with that much motor i could use more. 60ft times are 1.84, 1/8 mile is 8.45. no doubt 13.2 is a descent time but the truck weighs 3600 with me in it. i was expecting more like mid 12's. im running the muncie still and have 4:56's in the rear. Thanks for any help. Devin.

the set up is great.....do yourself a favor and talk with Ty..at the link I gave you...he got me from mid 13s to mid twelves with the right carb 1.84 60 foot times is GREAT..I am running 2.0 60 footers and going 12.5 with a 75 shot of N20..and 12.9 without the bottle with 2.09 60s...I believe your leaving a lot of topend on the table..with the right carb you will probably pick up 3-4 MPH

thanks for all your help, i checked out the link, sweet carbs. did you get the one for $795 (ouch!!) kinda out of the budget right now, i just broke the rear on saturday and ordered moser custom alloy axles with c-clip eliminators, ( to the tune of $455 plus shipping) ha ha. i have a 750 double pumper ( i think) i need to identify it, the choke horn is cut off and the top is all smoothed out and tapered like the body on the proform replacement bodies. the guy i got it from said it is a 750 but i would like to verify and check jetting. do you think they would help me out with it or don't they wanna talk unless you bought one of theirs? thanks, Devin

I would block off the rear power valve...put on jet extensions, and jet to 82-84 on the secondaries. a 50 cc acc. pump on the primaries is a good idea with 37-38 squiters....Ty would be glad to help you out...just tell him jim scott sent you..mine is the red 750 on that page...I paid 500.00..if you send him your 750, then its not too much to have him set it up...he goes by every aspect of your engine and truck...then he helps you after fine tune it.
Jim
