They are 3/8 X 16 thread and length is 1 and a 1/2 inches. BobbyK's thread has pics and measurements too. I would run a tap into all the bolt holes too and make sure they are clean before trying to lock it down.

My double wall is 5/16 x 18 pt. My bed rails have both sets of holes, the single wall is 3/8" SAE. The problem I am having is my embedded nuts in the double wall are either spinning inside or someone tried 3/8" and ruined the threads on 2 of them. Arghh!

Ya, the welded nuts on mine were all shot too. Heck, the entire metal piece in the top was shot, so I cut it out and put wood back in with thread inserts. Not pretty, but functional.
