CUCV Seat Questions

Hey Everyone,

My '88 K5 came with late model seats and I want original style seats. I found some from what I think is an '85 CUCV I can purchase.

Does anyone know the differences if any? Will I be able to order covers for them from one of the suppliers if they are different?

From the reasearch I've done, there appear to be some differences the way the passenger seat folds forward and differences in the hinge area. It also looks like they may have an extra mounting hole? The regular K5s only have 4 holes, but the passenger side of the CUCV looks like it has 6 (extra ones in the rear). But, that may just be how the '85s were? I'm not sure. There is no hole in the passenger floorboard of the CUCV. The seat base stays put. When you hit the lever, the seat folds forward and then in the same motion, the base slides forward.

I would appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on this because I would like to buy these seats.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Re: CUCV Seat Questions

CUCV seats in the Blazer are the cheaper bucket seats from S10 trucks of the era with different seat bases.

Re: CUCV Seat Questions

Amazing what you can learn from this site! I never suspected they were S-10 seats. Thanks Bruiser. I think I'll keep searching for regular K5 seats so I can order the correct upholstery...

Re: CUCV Seat Questions

I didn't know they were not even Blazer seats. I figured they were just base vinyl seats, like my '85 Jimmy has. Different bases and all, huh? So,I guess S10 seats are a built-in swap for K5s,then

Re: CUCV Seat Questions

I guess you could, but you wouldn't want to. They are thin, don't have near the depth of padding the full size trucks got.

Re: CUCV Seat Questions

Yeah,I imagine they would be shallow due to space.
