Fleetside or stepside ..... What rear axle , 71-72 or older...? It makes a difference wether they fit on the rear.

Fleetside, rear end is from my original 1970 C10 12 bolt with coils and 6 lugs, I have converted over to 5 lug axles.

Having the narrower rear axle causes some problems. It is approximately 3/4" narrower per side. which would equate to about 4.75" BS being ideal on a 10" rim. 338's are available in 5.50" and 6.25" backspace only , so you would need to run a 3/4" adaptor to get the 5.50'' wheel to sit right. Fleetside is no problem , Im not sure on stepside what you can get away with.

Re: One Set left BLACK & Machine BOSS 338's Blems

Technically I think I have the larger axles in my rear end right now, they need to be shortened, wonder if it would hurt to run them the way they are? Only issue I see is I would need to now space my caliper mounting bracket out so the brakes will fit the rotor properly, not sure how safe that would be

I'm not sure what you need to do there ..... Wider housing would probably be the easiest .
