Oil sending unit w/ HEI

How are you guys running the oil sending unit with and HEI distibuter? I have a 1979 C10.

I assume just get a small pipe out of the block and add a 45 degree fitting on it and just bend it out of the way

your thoughts

Re: Oil sending unit w/ HEI

that's exactly what I did on my car with aftermarket gauges. the sender was too big to fit even with small cap distributor

I assume this is an electric and not mechanical gauge? With the huge sending unit You can use a pipe and a 45 or 90 to easily clear everything. If im not mistaken the sending unit by itself will clear.

Installed with a 45 degree bend. Pretty ticked. As soon as I was done and cleaning tools up I found the pipe and 45 angle sitting on the intake I bought some time ago. Oh well. Got to go to a cool friendly hardware store today to get what I already had. So at least that. Was fun?

**it happens. These old trucks are always an adventure. Either way it sounds like it turned out good.

Re: Oil sending unit w/ HEI

A number of years ago, I was trying to get a project running and on the road and I did not have a 45-degree elbow. I did, however, have a flexible hose designed for grease guns which I used with a standard Tee so that I could run both the indicator light and aftermarket gauge.
