I am getting ready for my back surgery and so the truck is just about ready to put for sale. I want your opinions on whether or not putting fancy rims on the truck will bring more money, second if I should lift it 4" and put bigger tires on it as well. I have restored it very stock due to it having 66,000 original miles on it. I have to decide this week before I buy new tires.

Help!

Looks real nice but the wheels have to go . I would replace with a nice set of rally's . I think i would leave as is no lift . Jose

Nice Job first of all!!! I personally vote no on the lift. I like the rally look too,especially on a great looking stock truck. Probably cost effective also. If you go with "fancy rims" it will cost ya a pretty penny and with so many choises a buyer might love the truck and hate the rims. ofcoarse I don't like any custome rims tho.

replace wheels with a nice set of stock style rallys or a set of corvette style rallys like I have on my truck.no lift for such an original truck If your gonna lift It go all out and buy wheels and tons of chrome and make It out show only.

I wouldn't do anything to it, put a for sale sign on it as is. Any money you spend on it now is down the drain, and not likely to increase what you can get for it.

I say no lift with some nice steel wheels and hub caps. Not only will this be cheaper in the long run, but also gives possible buyers a "blank canvas" so they can dream up their own ideas for future modifications. Also, unmolested trucks/cars alway draw more attention and seem more desireable to buyers...you shouldn't have any problems seling it.

BTW - how much do you think you will be asking?

Isn't it a 3/4 ton?? I don't know of any ralley wheels for 8 lug (except the 88-98 chevy truck steel wheels).

I agree with some of the other guys, if you spend a lot of money on it, you won't see as good of return on it.

You'll have a hard time getting your money out of anything you spend on it at this point. I'd sell it as is. I don't think you'll have a hard time with it selling. Good luck with the surgery.

This is why I am addicted to this site. You have made my decision much easier. It is always better to run it past the pro's right.

Here is the run down.

I bought it from the original owner, it has 66,000 miles on original 350. I just added Power steering. It has new bumpers, paint, carpet, dash pad, door panels, handles, Seat was professional redone, so brand new interior. The truck had a propane tank in the bed and was run off propane for a good portion of those miles. I have left the engine bay alone to keep with the stock original truck look. I put new warn hubs up front. It has a dana 44 in the front and an eaton limited slip rear, 4spd, 3/4 ton, and I am going to be spraying in a high quality bedliner this week. I have since installed my new side marker lights and will have the windshield back in tommorrow.

I am going to be out of work for about 4-6 months for the surgery so I am selling for my emergency money just in case.

I am going to advertise on the net and the local papers for about $9,000. I would love to sell to a board member who will take care of my baby. Board member bottom price is $8,500. I know I will get that locally, not too many low mile low rust trucks in UTAH.

Thanks again for the help! Should have it done in a week or so.

I disagree a bit with the other members. A cheap set of Alcoa knock offs would do wonders for the look. They look expensive but are not. Wheels make or break a vehicle IMHO. As far as the lift, put an inexpensive 4" lift on it and I guarantee most of the persons interested will think you spent a load extra getting the lift and wheels, it will be easier to sell most likely.
I also disagree about not spending another dime on the project. If you short change the project at this point it will show and it will mean less money from the sale or a harder sell. If the project is finished, all is working and done nicely there will be nothing the pick apart and will be an easy sale. Hope all goes well with the surgery and the sale.

I would think that you can take those wheels you have and make them look more expensive. The cheapest way would be to paint them silver or black. The better way would be to get them powder coated. You can get a powder coat that looks just like chrome! You can also get many shades of silver and grey that would look custom. I think a gun-metal, metallic grey would look killer.

I would also leave the truck's height alone. If you lifted it without putting bigger tires(expensive) it would look horrible.

I think there are more opinions when it comes to wheels than about anything else. What you think looks good may look like sh*t to someone else. I think the truck speaks for itself! Very nice! I vote for no lift and leave the wheels alone.
