Re: jr. nation losing its leader..
Yeah. Its no shock but i sure hate to see him step out of the car. But i do want him to go out on his terms with his health. He said while he was recuperating that he would evaluate himself once he was cleared to race again and make a decision about his future then. He is married now and is planning for children so i can't blame him for slowing down to a more normal lifestyle.
I see the next chapter of his life as a car owner continuing to field cars in the xfinity series and put one or two cup teams together with Rick. Dang son. Talladega won't be the same without Jr leading the way.

Re: jr. nation losing its leader..
I think she's been out of the game for a long time now. Did DEI finally cease to exist altogether? Ganassi was partnered with Theresa but a couple of years ago the Earnhardt part of the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing was dropped. She took no part in the racing business anymore so a couple years ago Chip dropped the Earnhardt name from the team. He said she wouldn't answer his calls and such. Then there is ECR which stood for Earnhardt Childress Racing Technology but now days they say the E doesn't stand for anything. It's real sad. I read she mostly takes care of the memorabilia business.

As a fan, it's hard to see him go. As a family man, go get 'em kid. Just don't have too many children. At 42, you'll be 60 by the time you get them out of the house.

Re: jr. nation losing its leader..
Ratings have been going down steadily for past few years. Will be interesting to see what happens after jr. leaves.
I don't blame the guy. He's worth 315 million dollars. His dad died in a car. Why continue after the injuries he's had? Definitely won't be the same without him. I watched the Busch series race (or whatever the hell it is now) where he won with the Wrangler #3 at Daytona. That was a special race, one I won't forget. I even preordered the die cast replica that night after the win, it's the only die cast race car I have. I grew up a huge fan of his dad's... got to see him at a few tracks before he passed (darlington and charlotte).

Re: jr. nation losing its leader..
Some drivers only find freedom while inside the car, seems like Jr is looking to get free from the car. Who would blame him? Besides a net worth of over $300M, he is an excellent businessman, teammate and owner; not to mention all he has done as a driver and for NASCAR in general (got fans?). He and Kelly (and Rick) have consistently built highly competitive teams over the years with JR Motorsports. Dale has a keen eye for talent and has unselfishly vetted, developed, helped and placed many popular drivers throughout the NASCAR community.
I expect He and the sport will benefit nicely as ole Junebug blossoms in his new found freedom outside of the car. 8’s and 3’s boys… 8’s and 3’s…. |

Re: jr. nation losing its leader..
Its been fun to watch Jr grow up.. He was a cocky SOB like his dad, but he finally came into his own and became very humble. He has a great life ahead of him and I wish him and Amy well!

Re: jr. nation losing its leader..
Well Jr was still a kid, more or less, when his dad died. Before that he was partying it up and having a good old time. With the guidance of Uncle Tony, Rick Hendrick and some others he's turned into a fine man. His priorities have turned around over the years and he's a better person now. He finally got serious about one woman and from what I can see Amy is very good for him. That's fantastic. He is ready for a family now and I bet he will be an awesome father. And there could be no better ambassador for the sport than Dale Jr.
