Trailing Arms question

I have been having some issues with the rear end on my '62. The axle is out of a '72, modified to fit the '62 trailing arms. I was planning on finding another rear end to swap out. Talking to my buddy, he has a '72 rear diff that he's willing to let me have. While b.s.'ing with him, the subject came up about swapping the trailing arms along with the axle. Has anyone done this? Is this even possible? I did some searching, but came up with nothing.

As long as the rear end is from a trailing arm truck, it will work (well, there may be some panhard bar differences) The trailing arms from 60 to 72 are the same.

Well I know the trailing arm mounts from 60-62 were wider apart than the 63-72's. That's why I was wondering if the later trailing arms will bolt in place of the earlier ones, swap rear end with trailing arms... not just the axle.

I just thought of something. It's probably a no go. Being that the '62 frame is wider, the coil springs won't line up.

Well, now I'm starting to doubt myself... I had always heard the arms are all the same, but I only have experience with the 64-72 trucks, never the earlier ones. I know the earlier trucks used a different rearend.

Thanks Roger. They are the same length, but spread out a little wider I believe on the earlier trucks.

The '60-'72 trailing arms are all basically the same. The '60-'62's have them mounted farther apart at both the crossmember and the differential.
