Brake Shoes Issue/Question

I have two 12 bolt diffs. One has 2" shoes, the other 3". I'm curious if I can swap the 2"shoes and drums with the 3".
The reason being is the the diff with the 2"is no good, save the shoes. I just rebuilt the diff with 3", but have not yet replaced the shoes due to my curiosity.

Re: Brake Shoes Issue/Question

backing plate has to be swapped also .

the depth of it is diffrent for the width change .

when i swapped from std drum brake size to the bigger option brakes in the 12bolt on my 2wd i had to get the used backing plates to match . otherwise bolt on and go .
