Cragar SS fitment issue with HD (2 3/4" shoe) rear drums?

Just wondering what people have done about this. I have a '79 with the 2 3/4" rear shoes. The drums (I believe they are original) have a thick ridge around the outer edge of the face of the drum that has sections machined off for balancing.

The issue I'm having is the back of the wheel hits this raised part before the wheel seats, with about 1/4-3/8" gap left to go.

I went to the wrecker and looked at some drums. There were other styles that had small weights welded on that might work but I'm not sure. This doesn't seem like it would be any problem with the 2" shoes+drums.

I found a cragar spacer with longer shank lugnuts but I'd like to avoid a spacer if possible.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

Slight update: 2 3/4" drums with welded weights also hit the back of the rim. Looking like I might need spacers...

Almost a year later, still haven't mounted them. Any ideas? Obviously I'm not the first person to put cragar SS wheels on a truck so I'm curious what people did!
