Rear glass removal?

Are all rear glasses on 88-98 Silverado just have the seal around the glass or do they have the glue? I plan on switching my wife's 89 sliding window to just a single glass? I have to pull it so I'm curious I have taken windows out before but I figure the ones with just the seal around it are easier to take off?

Re: Rear glass removal?

Its glued in with eurothane and has to be cut out. You can buy the blade that goes on the end of a sawsall and try it yourself but you have to be careful because the blade will cut through the metal. Easier to call a glass guy out and have them cut it out and put the new one in.

You can try to cut it out with a window knife also but it takes forever and you can scratch the glass if not careful.

Re: Rear glass removal?

This is the blade for the sawsall, There not really cheap and if you get one use soap and water in a spray bottle or glass cleaner to keep it moving free on the glass when cutting.

glasses are the same from 89-98 as long as its the same body style

Re: Rear glass removal?

How'd it turn out?

I have a '95 2500 that I want to replace my slider with a flat, NON slider. (latch was broke years ago and one side replaced with plexi-glass)
BUT when I started to take it apart, the window frame looks like it would be easier to just find another cab with a flat then to pull that slider frame out lol..
Was trying to be gentile but dang!!!#(*&^$@*#@)

Maybe a heat gun would help?
Did you guys have to pull the interior plastic out?
This is what I purchased. I think it was a good deal. Plus it's tinted already so I won't get sunburn..

Thanks
