"88 GMC C2500 - ESC Module, issue?
My truck .. running fine, just coasting at 35mph, then , Service Engine Soon light / then ignition or ? stopped ... I thought the truck was going to die, then the light went out and truck ran fine. ( Took about 5 seconds)
The code eluded to the "just adjusted TPS".... and also the ESC ( Electronic Spark Control module)....... The ESC is interconnected to many components, like the TPS.... I am searching for a new ESC, just in case that's the problem, but anyone know of other parts that could also be connected to these parts? I am having a difficult time finding a new ESC....... Suggestions?

Re: "88 GMC C2500 - ESC Module, issue?
Maybe I over described my question....
The trouble code for this problem involves the TPS & ESC, but other parts will also set the same code. What other components would there be?

Which transmission does the truck have?
Which engine does the truck have? What code or codes did it set? How did you retrieve the code / codes?

I think, #22 ( TPS low signal) but signal not low.... also mentioned ESC module. Code checker was a Snap On.

Re: "88 GMC C2500 - ESC Module, issue?
Code 22 does not have anything to do with the ESC
First thing is to check and see what code is in the memory. Use a link below if you do not know how to read the codes without a scan tool. http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/sh...php?tid/273660 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...5&postcount=11 Then clear the code. Verify the code is cleared. Drive the vehicle and see if the code returns. Code 22 can be set by a bad TPS or a poor connection to the TPS. Have you moved the throttle stop screw?

Re: "88 GMC C2500 - ESC Module, issue?
The TPS is good / adjusted on the high side. The ESC also showed problems, as per a Snap On code reader. There's about 5 components that can affect the code.
( code was cleared)..... The truck lost ignition for 5 seconds, causing the code, but a TSP will not create that symptom. An OBD 1 system is like a house. A code will tell you what room in the house is in defect, but sometimes it WON'T tell you what, "in the room is bad".... ( I do not see a OBD1 code specifically for an Electronic Spark Control module) ....unless it is described differently in the list? ( I appreciate the ideas..... just trying to solve this)
