Opinions on what size glass packs to get for 1 3/4in pipe.

Ok so i have a 97 gmc that has true dual exhaust the guy i had bought the truck from had it straight piped with 1 3/4in pipe so it is really loud and cracks and pops a lot. I just wanted to see some opinions from here of what type and size glass packs or mufflers i should get to mellow it out some until i can redo the exhaust to 2 1/2in pipe.

Wow 1-3/4" is tiny! I don't think you'd gain much with glass-packs, after a while they'd be just as loud. Do you have room for "turbo" mufflers?
I believe Thrush or Walker makes a oval "turbo" muffler in 1-3/4" and they offer good flow with decent sound.

try Summit...

Ok so i like the sound of the Thrush turbo mufflers but i was wondering can they be mounted vertically or how ever that is called because i wouldn't have any room other wise.

Just a thought, What would happen, if you built the truck with a Magnaflow dual in and dual out muffler (1 muffler with four connection points), and then hooked everything up with 2 1/2" piping. Good deep sound, good performance, no cracking and popping and the engine would respond so much better.
