Battery Cable Help
Working on a 64 GMC 1/2ton.
I am about halfway through installing an AAW harness. I am at the point where I should be able to start the truck. Problem is I am not sure how to hook up everything to the battery? I feel like this is a really stupid question, but I am stumpped. Seems like all the power wires go to the ignition. Where does the actual power cable from the battery go to? |

the positive cable goes to the starter, there is also a wire that runs from the positive terminal connection at the battery to the voltage regulator, it is usually a red wire and threads through the core support in front of the radiator, truck will not start if that is not hooked up.
(this is for a stock gm harness)

Thanks for the input. The problem I have is that the wires from the starter are the fusible links. I have two on the top post, one to the alternator, one to the ignition. Then one on each of the smaller posts.
Has anyone installed an AAW harness of this kind? |

If I'm understanding right, the battery cable will hook to the same terminal those fusible links are attached to, the big terminal on the starter. That's where the rest of the system is fed power. The fusible links are so you don't have a length of unfused wire running throughout the truck.

the positive cable goes to the starter, and negitive to frame, or block. that should be it.

I installed an AAW kit in my '66.
Positive from battery to big post on starter. Also on the big post you shoud add both fusible link wires, blue and brown. On the "S" post add the purple wire and add the yellow wire to the "R". yellow wire gets attached to the pink wire that goes to the distributer (POINTS) Altho i have mine hoocked up to an HEI. Does it make a difference? not that i can tell. Hope this is what you were looking for.
