To roll or not to roll.......

Well it's time for me to figure our I'd I'm going with a front roll pan or a smoothie bumper. What do you guys think? Pics of either? I've seen a thread a while back and have it bookmarked. Just trying to get opinions and info. If I do it I will do it like xxl did on his truck. This is what I got so far
Thanks
Juan

Re: To roll or not to roll.......

A front roll pan looks good on a 67-68 front end like yours, but i don't think they look right on a 69-72. They just look more at home with the steel grill on the 67-68. But...a smoothie bumper would look nice also, i know i'm no help at all! Nice Burban by the way! Joseph

Re: To roll or not to roll.......

Thanks man. I like the look of them on the 67-68 trucks. Just trying to fun any draw backs. Obviously I'm not scared to cut into my truck. Lol

I'd say go with the roll. In WA we have to have a bumper.

Each his own style, i like bumpers. You just don't see them anymore. But go with what you want.

Sounds like you have kind of talked yourself into the roll pan, good luck either way. Joseph

Re: To roll or not to roll.......

What's the REST of the truck gonna be like? Roll pans go with a certain style of truck. While I realize your truck isn't stock, but will it have the rest of the chrome? Will it be mono-colored? What about the rear of the truck? Roll pan, bumper? Does your state require front AND rear bumpers (jayman raises a good point on this)?

You asked, I say bumper all the way - no matter what the style of the truck is - but that's just me.

Re: To roll or not to roll.......

My vote would be a chrome smooth bumper tucked in tight or shortened....My opinion is these are trucks and they always look better with front bumpers...

Good luck with your decision.

Re: To roll or not to roll.......

Ive never been a rolled pan guy. I tend to like the classic good looks of these trucks, and that includes bumpers and wing widows. BUT ... Your rendering does look pretty darn nice. I like the upper lip on the roll that merges with the wheel well.

Re: To roll or not to roll.......

I have always been a bumper guy myself and in PA you have to have a front bumper....after saying that i thought the look of those 76-78's with the one color paint jobs and the rollpan was pretty cool lookin. either way I think it will look great I think a smooth bumper with the ends cut off and resessed ( not sure if thats spelled right) in would look cool.......I wonder if there are any pics of that

bumper, sure would hate to bump someone or hi something either in an intersection or something that flew off a truck on the highway, due some major damage to your ride.

Re: To roll or not to roll.......

If it is going to be street driven a lot I prefer to have a real bumper. I do like the look of the roll pan on the 67/68 front end and would probably do one if the truck isn't going to see a lot of daily road use.
