What the heck

OK, here is the story. My 01 1500HD silverado normally runs great and I have had few problems with it except the standard stuff that happens up here in the northeast. Things like brake lines rusting out...no problem, brakes lasting only 50K miles...again no problem, and the common servo's not working correctly in the AC system again no problem. Things like this that I can repair or attempt to repair and they stay fixed. But here is the rub with my truck. I had a vibration in my drive train, i thought no problem I changed two of the U joints and the carrier bearing on the drive shaft. Well guess what? Vibration from 25 to 30 MPH drives me nuts. I've tried to move the carrier bearing forward and backwards and sideways but still the same problem. I think the drive shaft may need to be balanced, well no place in Maine does that...or so I am told. The thing was really rusty and may have thrown a weight. Another problem I am having is whenever I put the truck up on my ramps to work on it or park it on an aggressive angle I get an ABS and emergency brake light on which means to me a fault in the ABS system. Put it back on relatively level ground and like magic the problem clears up every time. Another "minor" problem I have is the AC sometimes misbehaves on really hot days. The compressor will not engage at idle and will blow hot until you get going down the road. I am an AC tech and it is driving me crazy all the pressures are OK under a load and at idle(when it runs). I think the BCM is faulty but that I can live with for now.

Any thoughts from anybody, suggestions appreciated

Re: What the heck

Thanks for the post on drive line links. I forgot to mention that its a daily driver and I need it to drive my kids around in every day 4 boys. But the South Portland one is promising and I may take a day trip down there.

Re: What the heck

Anybody else had problems with their ABS? Sounds to me like there is something that is not meeting its permissives for a reset. like a valve that is not in its "at rest" position you know stuck up or half way. Especially since it only does it when the truck is not level. It there any way to flush the ABS module out? I replaced all the brake lines and didn't even think about that. sorry for the navy terms but thats my life. I just can't stand not knowing whats wrong.

A well understood problem is half solved

Re: What the heck

Thanks, but since I live in the northeast I regularly clean all my grounds. Like I said it only comes on when the truck is at a strange angle like on ramps or on hill

Re: What the heck

May have nothing to do with your problem, but i have multiple gm vehicles and abs light and/or vibration usually has been hub assembly in my experiences.
