UCA LCA how do I tell if they are worn?

Planning on replacing my ball joints, tie rod ends, etc., but am not sure if I need to replace my control arm bushings? how do i tell if they are worn to the point of replacement?

do they look dry rotted? maybe, not sure, there is a LOT of grease and crap covering them

Is that the only indication? I guess I am looking for something I can test for play, or what the symptoms are when driving down the road.

IMO. If you are already getting that involved into the tear down, you might as well replace them while you are at it. Just do it all at once and save the time and hassle of doing it later.

I've got up and down and in and out for sure... I will probably just replace it all. where is the best place to get the parts? I looked at Rockauto.com for Moog stuff and all in I am looking at about $400...sheesh.

Can anyone recommend anything other than Moog? or should I just bite the bullet?

I am in the middle of the same project. I have been buying all moog based upon the comments from this board. The quality of the parts that have arrived is great. I suppose you could buy crap made in china, but why take the chance.

Amazon has great deals on moog too. Also advanceauto.com, if you keep an eye out for thier deals. I am into the parts for about 550 with shipping and tax. buy nice or buy twice.

Re: UCA LCA how do I tell if they are worn?

Im not in favor of buying chinese, but this truck also only gets driven maybe 1500 miles a year, so it doesnt justify buying the best parts if they will wear out due to age before use. if it was my daily driver then yes, i would buy top of the line.

there isn't anything in the marketplace that is comparable (or slightly less)quality to Moog??
