To all who wanted...........

information about how I do my repairs and welding technique. Please forgive me for not being able to keep up with everyones request. I've been overwhelmed with emails, PM's, and replies to the posts, and for that I am very, very grateful. However I just can't keep up with them all and I want to be fair to each one of you.

After careful concideration, I've decided the best way to give the best information on how I do it is to "show and tell" so I will be making some videos covering the most common repairs that these trucks need, floor pans, cab support, inner kick/foot well, inner-outer rockers, lower "A" and "B" pillar-door jams, cab corner, bedside wheel opening, etc.

I know, Iknow, it may seem that I'm trying to cash in but I can asure you its not the case. Whatever the cost you can be sure the videos will show every step, tip, material, tools, equipment, and technique I use to get the results you have seen on this board and can be applied to most restorative situation related to old cars and trucks where rust or panel replacement is involved.

There is no black magic to working metal, however there is somewhat of a learning curve and if I had been able to view an intructional video when I first became interested in working metal it would have shortened that learning curve dramatically making working on old vehicles even more enjoyable.

For those who would be interested in such videos and would be willing to pay a fair price for them, again, I will give you information, some of which has taken years to acquire. You won't be disappointed. I will not do this as a mere profit making venture, the videos will be priced to cover my cost only.

Does this sound like a good plan? If so which one should be done first? Any ideas or input from you guys/ gals would be appreciated.

Thanks.......eb

Rockers, cab corners, dent pulling, door rustout in rear corners, cab floors, cab mounts, suburban type quarter-panel patching.

Stuff like that in that type of order. I guess you could use a pre-order poll type thing to justify which ones 1st, 2nd, etc.

Set yourself up to take Paypal might be good too (instant purchases!!)

You made my day, I couldn't learn enough about this type of thing. I also hope you discuss tools needed and recommended.

You da man

Sounds like an excellent idea. You should however make some profit. I don't mind paying for something that is going to save me time and money. Count me in also.

Me too!

I have always been AMAZED when you've posted repair pics. I'm a firm believer in learning from someone who can actually do what they are teaching, and from what I've seen, I can't wait for the video.

Why not start with the most common rusted areas of '67-'72 pickups? Things like rocker panels, cab corners, floorboards, etc. I think just about everyone on the board has a rusty rocker panel, and probably a rusty cab corner.

Maybe after a video or two on that, I'd love to see dent pulling techniques.

I'll take a set.
I'd love to learn the "correct way" to work metal.
I know there probably isn't much demand for it anymore but how about a short piece on working lead?

Sign me up, too! I think they would be invaluable to every novice bodyman on here, and I think you deserve to make a killing on them.

I'd like to see rockers and cab corners first. Maybe some Bondo smoothing tips (that's plastic body filler, since I know you're not familiar with it ).

Dude! Make a profit. Your experience and hard work are worth something. I hate it when people act like making a profit is morally wrong. Now, gouging people is wrong but a profit is not. You'll be doing yourself wrong if you don't at least make some money. By the way, I'd be interested too.

A video series would be great. The next step would be to host a weekend workshop (for a fee, like Ron Kovell) where we could see first hand repairs/techniques and be able to ask questions and maybe bring some panels in need of repair. I would be willing to make the trip.

At work I weld 1/2 to 1" thick steel, so I'm having trouble with sheet metal. I would love to have a video showing how to work sheet metal, count me in!

Can I be your agent? LOL

I would love to have a video! Cab stuff would be the best for me. I need floor pans, rockers, corners, gas tank filler, and of course the bad spot above the windshield.

Of course these will be available next week right? j/k

I'm with the others! I'll buy em'!!
I also think you should make a fair profit.
Your experience is worth it. If you have enough intrest, you could justify the price of a DVD recorder (they are way down in price I'm told) and that would possibly be cheaper / easier to produce VS tape. Shipping may be cheaper as well. Just an idea.

I also would like the topics to be covered in the order of the areas that are most often in need of repair ie: rockers 1st next cab corners, and then whatever your experience tells you needs to be next.
I'm just grateful you are even considering this!

Count me in. I've been thinking of taking some night courses at the college on bodywork, so this is right up my alley. Maybe to save production costs you could get the videos burnt onto a DVD or CDR instead of VHS. Or just charge a fee to upload it off a web site, as Norton or other companies do. This would save on packaging, shipping etc. I can't wait!
