Cool 72 th400 Downshifting problems????

Anyone know what the switch that is located under the dash on the accelerator pedal's bracket is called? I know that on the th350 they have detent cables for the downshifting. Mine is supposed to be vacuum controled, but the modulator is new and I know that the switch has something to do with it. Please help me figure this one out. My truck won't downshift over 40 mph.

that is the kickdown switch, sounds like your modulator might be the one with the wrong setting for your gear ratio.

Id definately check the kickdown switch, there should be power getting the the conncetor on the trans when ever the throttle is wide open(or close to it). Also you can usually hear the kickdown solenoid in the trans click when you open the throttle all the way.
