Around here its $5 with wheel or $2 without wheel. They sometimes have tire amnesty to get rid of tires for free. Its a ripoff because they have a "fee" on new tire purchases to cover the cost of getting rid of dead tires and they still charge to accept them at the dump. They bring a grinder in and use them for asphalt and probably make money on that too.

yeah kind of like the tree companies who charge you for disposing of the old wood then just cut it up and sell it.

a city by me had one day a year where they had a free tire pick up for residents. second year it backfired as everyone from surrounding cities brought tires in to get rid of, including businesses
