NEW Stroker Short Block
This is 400 miles on a brand new BluePrint Short Block from Jeggs. I'm hoping they will replace it and pay for labor to do so.

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
I think I read somewhere that blueprint has excellent customer service, so you might just be fine. Sucks about the motor though.

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
I thought the heads were making noise so I ordered a set of Edelbrock E-SERIES E-210 S/B CHEVY Heads custom built for my Cam Shaft from Edelbrock and was getting ready to put them in.

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
What kind of noise would a head be making? Only moving parts is in the valve train. What heads were on it?

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
Just a set of $800.oo Aluminum Heads I bought last year when I started the project. It sounded like the Rockers weren't adjusted correctly, But the guy readjusted them twice and we still heard the rattle. So we figured we would try a better set of heads.
And that's where I'm at know. I'm glad I had him tear it down. |

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
Can you actually feel them or are they just cosmetic. I have seen scratches like that on older engines and never gave it much thought; could barely feel it. I figure a speck of dirt or metal filing found it's way there at some point. On a new engine, I may be slightly concerned and would be curious what the builder thinks.

Good luck. I'd be surprised if they cover labor, but don't have any experience.

The warranty covers Labor. So I expect them to honor what they say. In the online ad.

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
This is what it says.
Labor Policy: BluePrint Engines will pay labor claims only to repair facilities it has authorized and will only pay labor claims that the purchaser actually incurs as an out of pocket expense. BluePrint Engines will not be liable for or pay any labor claims on BluePrint engines installed by any third party that is not a certified license repair facility that it has authorized to perform repair and will not pay any labor claims on engines installed in whole or in part by purchaser. All labor expenses for field repairs, removal or reinstallation shall be limited to that expense and to those hours listed on the most recent Motors Flat Rate Manual or alternative flat rate manual pre-approved by BluePrint Engines at a pre-determined labor rate. BluePrint Engines will not be liable and will not pay labor claims on racing applications or engines used with superchargers, turbochargers, or nitrous oxide. Warranty credits not used within one year against future purchase will be considered void. |

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
So that means no one should buy a new motor unless they are authorized by them? That makes no sense, My Mechanic is a certified car, boat, motorcycle and small engine Mech.
He works on the county vehicles, Police and everyone in my area. If that isn't good enough I know my Lawyer will have a field day with this company.. |

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
Well here is a update on the Short Block:
Blue Print Engines stated that my Mechanic must have dropped something into the cylinder while assembling the engine. He knows better since he has been doing this for 30 years. But I talked to Blue Print and they said they will replace the short block but not cover the Labor. So my Builder said If I just pay for the Head Swap that will cover the job. Blue Print also Is sending a complete Gasket Set. So I can't complain about the Company even though we can't prove who was at fault. I'll let you know how everything turns out. And yes you could feel the groove. |

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
It took over a month for Blue Print to replace the motor, and they still say it was not there fault. But .... who knows for sure what happened. They sent a brand new Stroker short block and it still cost me $3500.oo for parts and labor.,
So now I'm into a new motor for about $15,000.oo I just had bad luck. We think the problem was the heads I bought new on Ebay might have broke and something fell into the cylinder and caused the damage. But without taring apart the heads we'll never know. I'm sending the heads back to get them checked and repaired because the sounded like a sewing machine when running. Then maybe I can sell them and recoup some money. The new custom built heads built by Edelbrock for my cam ($1699.00) E-210's sound and run unbelievable. Now I have to go break in the motor and see if it will survive.....lol Wish me luck, I sure need it. |

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
Glad you got the shortblock worked out. Not sure what all you did that ran the bill up to $15k though.
I'm willing to bet it was the ebay heads. I try to explain the reasons not to buy them or at least don't buy them assembled but the price tag is very appealing. Wouldn't be the first time I saw a engine destroyed because of eBay heads. Did you get them from Skip White Performance? The new heads should work very well if your camshaft matches the combo.

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
I bought the heads from these guys since they were in Fl. not too far away. http://www.ebay.com/sch/odessa*cylin...1&_ipg=&_from=
the motor was pulled 4 times and installed 3 so that was the cost plus the first guy ripped me off for 3K |

Re: NEW Stroker Short Block
Had a problem Sat. had a tow truck come get my truck and take it back to the builder and all it was is the Choke on my New Carb. (750 slayer) sticking closed. You pay that much for a Carb. you wouldn't think it would screw up at 475 miles.
I have a question about Break In oil, Joe Gibbs type. Since the cam was broke in before I had to replace the short block and heads do I still need to run this break-in oil for 500 more miles before changing it? And what oil would you use for the next 2000 miles? |
