454 cleanup
The 71 K20 I bought had a 454 installed - in cleaning up that install I am as well stripping down and re-sealing the engine. On the surface of the block the oil pan mounts to is stamped 3826 X, as well as the number 9 on that surface both sides of the block at every point on the crank the rods connect???? Never had a BBC, thus no idea what I am looking at -

Re: 454 cleanup
It is just some sort of reference info stamped by someone on the assembly line.

Re: 454 cleanup
Also could be stampings from a rebuilder at some point.
I personally stamp numbers into all my blocks and heads in specific areas so I know I am getting my parts back that I turned in to the machinist. Gary
