Machinists What Do You Call This Thing?

Its big and heavy, I would guess 300 pounds or so. The top is 16 inches in diameter. Looks old but can't see any damage to it. Is it worth anything or maybe its value lies in scrap metal?

rotary table for a mill...looks very old...and yes its worth something if its in decent shape...see if any local machine shops would be interested in it..i wouldn't mind having it if you were closer
a "cheap" 16in rotary table is over $1500 new...is there a name on it?

I'm not a machinist, BUT I know how to do some machine work. That might be called an indexing table, used on a mill. It can be turned accurately to different positions to duplicate machining on same part. the slots are for clamping fixtures that hold the part to the table...

Scrap is so low it would bring maybe $5, advertise here or facebook market place. Ought to be worth $100 to the right person.

There are still a few of the "Old School" manual machine machinist around that use that stuff religiously. That old manual machines were very accurate. I have a buddy who is a retired machinist who has a whole shop at his house full of the old war era stuff.... he loves to, and can operate it.

I'd rather run an old Rockport than any digital push button milling machine. The old units are indispensable if you ask me.

Re: Machinists What Do You Call This Thing?

It is a rotary table for milling machine.
It Is missing parts.
Probably why they let it go.
It could still be used thou.
Also could have been an attachment for a big Shaper.
