327 tdc

Hey I have a 1965 327 motor in my 1965 C10 which does not have a bolt in the harmonic balancer. It was pressed on in the old days. How do I rotate the crank to find top dead center for the timing without a crank bolt to rotate the engine?

they make a flywheel wrench thatll let you rotate the engine....like one of these...local parts stores have them as loan-a-tools

Re: 327 tdc

theres also a chance if you have access to a strap wrench big enough to wrap around the balancer it might work....

Re: 327 tdc

Just put the three bolts in the ballancer and use a long screw driver or pry bar.

Re: 327 tdc

How about grabbing the fan and give it a turn. Of course that is unless you have a clutch fan.

That tool would take the place of my heavy glove for turning the flex plate.
