Combed his Hair and Shined his Shoes...he going to the Car Show

My 71 K1500 has been accepted in to the 2018 Indianapolis "World of Wheels" car show. Truck went down to Indiana State fairgrounds yesterday (of course it snowed in Indy yesterday). Show starts tomorrow afternoon, don't know what to expect but it should be fun. My build not's done 100%, but you can't see the remaining issues. Four years of effort in this K1500.

Re: Combed his Hair and Shined his Shoes...he going to the Car Show

Hey, thanks for all the comments! It's really nice to have people appreciate what you've put a lot of effort in to. What I'm really looking forward to is tying up all the loose ends (alternator not charging, steady misfire in engine, and brakes working at approx 70%) and getting this truck on the road. Probably won't go "mudding", but plan on driving it when I can.

a1vintage, your Blazer looks great.

Re: Combed his Hair and Shined his Shoes...he going to the Car Show

You did an amazing and tasteful job on that buggy. You do GMC Trucks proud! Uh, your horn button is missing! (as if you didn't know) .

I just reminded myself of times others would look at my stuff (when I had show quality vehicles) and point out something like that, the one obvious flaw. My standard responses were either, "Nearly perfect, huh?" or "If that is all you can find wrong I'll take that as a compliment". On my Harley it would be pointing out the tiny scratches on the dash around the ignition switch from the key or the black mark on the exhaust pipe from my boot heel melting. I'd say, "I ride it" or if at a shoe, "This is a ride-in show".

I suggest exchanging numbers. Another member and I talked about meeting up at a show. Once I went I realized I didn't know what he looked like and the reverse was true for him. We probably saw each other and never knew it
I never saw anyone hanging around his truck except obvious spectators moving on down the line.

Re: Combed his Hair and Shined his Shoes...he going to the Car Show

Again, thanks everybody for the nice comments.

special-K, that horn button isn't missing now, I took that picture sometime last fall on my driveway. I just didn't have a recent picture of interior, which I think is the part of the truck I like the best. The truck is probably 90% original in appearance, but the pictures do reveal a few deviations.

Super nice. Four years doesn't surprise me at all. BTW, I like the upper trim w/o the lower on that truck. Great choice.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! That all I can say. I love stock trucks and being a GMC just added to the rarity of this beauty.
