driveshaft lenghts (th400 swap)
just curious if anyone on hand has a list of driveshaft lenghts regarding an 86 c10 with small block and a th400 and 10 bolt rearend.
used to have a long tail th350.and of course i couldnt reuse my driveshaft. here soon i'll be upgrading my transmission and pinions yokes, and i decided my truck no longer needed a driveshaft and it saw its happy way out. |

I have no list but I do have a tape measure I could give you! JK!
But you do need to measure it yourself. |

My thoughts.....what you need is the slip yolk in the trans, that you plan to run,as well as the U-joints (front & rear). Slide the slip yolk into the trans, till it hits bottom& mark it with a sharpie, right next to the seal. then, pull the yolk out 3/4 inch minimum, to 1 inch max. You will want the weight on the wheels, when you make this measure! At this point, you can measure center of caps , on the front & rear u-joints for the lenght of your d-shaft. Best of fun....Longhorn

Re: driveshaft lenghts (th400 swap)
that all makes sense.
i have a driveshaft that worked, however when it decided to take a hike during a hard test drive, im thinking about having one made anyways. that very well could have been one of the many problems anyways is a junkyard "hey this fits the length i need" driveshaft |
