Re: Factory roll bar
Randy,
I have a factory roll bar on my blazer, but its is 900 miles away in a garage. They aren't the prettiest things ever made. It consists of three pieces when taken apart and has kind of an angle on the base where it attaches to the bed. Hope this helps. Bill B

Re: Factory roll bar
I'm pretty sure the factory bar is one piece.....bolts flat to the floor behind the front seats and the two back legs bolt to the front of the rear wheelwells. Mine is buried under the parts pile right now....I'll see if I can find a pic!

Re: Factory roll bar
I've seen so many different versions of these rollbars, I don't really know at this point what / which are "factory" stock. I have seen single piece, bolt on rear legs with large radius bends at the top, bolt on with a smaller radius bends at the top... the one thing they all seem to have in common is that they all bolt down in front of the rear wheel well. I can't believe that with the bazillion Blazer pics I have on my hard drive, I can't find a single good pic of what I call a factory bar. They are all obscured by the top or some other thing.
Isn't VTBlazer's roll bar a factory style?

Re: Factory roll bar
I don't know if mine is factory or not, it's a three piece. I think there may be a pic or two of it in a interior rebuild thread........page 4 I think.

The attached pictures show my rollbar in the PO truck. I have heard this style call factory also by a guy with the same one. And then there is another style that has the rear legs bolting into the top of the rear wheel wells. I actually set one of these into my blazer it fit nice but I liked the one in the pics better so a friend got that one. Confused????

Re: Factory roll bar
the rollbar in the picture is a SmittyBuilt Roll bar. I know cause I had one and bought one new. They stopped making them.
The O.E. were small tube and bolted to the front of the rear inner fender. Last edited by Alexis; 01-25-2006 at 03:58 PM. |

Yeppers, this is a bad pic, sorry, but it attaches to the front slope of the fenders, if you look close you can see the rear bars, the top bar as a very slight arch in it at the midway point, and it is smaller dia tubing like Alexis said, it has 4 bolts per plate on each fender, I included a second pic, you can see the bolts if you look under the wheelwell, like I said it is mounted on the front slope of fenders *I can untarp it later and get better pic's if you guys want me too

Re: Factory roll bar
dan72 i have the same one, which i believe is the "orig" not the smittybuilt one all of the rest of you are busting one in your pants over... I dont think they look likes pieces of crap, and small tube? whats the diameter of the smitty built ones.... **** its night but i should go take a pic of mine and measure it to see how "small tube" it is..
Where your backing plates at luvy? It's ok, i'm sure alot of other members dont have them either, and i dont even play around, mines not even bulted in currently... Last edited by Medicanman71; 01-25-2006 at 10:56 PM. |

Re: Factory roll bar
its a metal plate that goes between the fender and the nuts with 4 holes for the bolts in each corder, god for bid you should roll, it keeps the nuts on the bults from pulling through the fenders Like a massive 4 in 1 square washer i guess

Re: Factory roll bar
Actually I think mine was dealer installed as its not listed on the glove box sticker. In fact I have never seen a roll bar listed. Mine came from Vic Hickeys (Chevy Engineer) catolog that I believe a lot of dealers used. My roll bar light is also in there.

Re: Factory roll bar
I would have to agree with Alexis. The roll bar which bolts behind the rear wheel is not factory. I bought two of those (Smittybuilt) in the past for different Blazers. I also have one in the 72 Blazer I just bought. Mike

I WANT ONE OF THOSE FAMILY BARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It says, will fit 69-73 roll bars, interesting. Cool catalogue, how many pages is it? Can you post all the pages for it? Would like to make copies of it, if it's alright with you.
