The pig is home!!

Overall, the trip went very smooth. I little touchy getting out of their driveway going downhill at an angle. Got up to about 7 degrees today. Left around 10 and home around 4 with no problems. The diesel hardly knew it was back there! Enjoy!

Re: The pig is home!!

If you take the camper off you're left with a giant hole in the back of the cab.

Da-burb has one of these rigs in nice shape. Does yours still have the generator? Da-burb started his generator up while I was in the camper. You couldn't even hear it run.

Re: The pig is home!!

Thanks for the compliments. I haven't even looked it over that close or tried to get it running yet. I can small bad gas at the carb. Was it common to have a turbo 400 behind a small block in a one ton?

Nice truck! I'd keep the camper and go hunting in it all the time.

Looks pretty decent. I've seen a few of these around, including daburbs. But weren't you trying to sell like 24 trucks this fall?

Re: The pig is home!!

Cool find. All the ones Ive ever looked at were four speeds. If I found an auto Id probably pull the trigger on it if was in decent overall shape.

Towing that behemoth must have been a little nerve racking . Weight distribution seems like it would be interesting to figure out.

Still trying to sell a bunch of trucks. I shouldn't have bought this, but couldn't resist.
CG, it was interesting especially on icy roads. Pulled it as far forward on the trailer as we could and that was that. It wasn't too bad...

Re: The pig is home!!

Pretty cool, there is a similar one that has been sitting in the same spot on the way to work for at least the past 30 years.

I've seen Turbo 400's in a few one tons that were intended more for in town delivery rigs. Around here most of the flatbed rigs have 4 speeds though.

I would imagine that they special ordered the trans for the camper chassis because most folks who would want it would prefer the automatic.

I'd like to find one in good shape to redo and use as we are contemplating a small motorhome at this time to run over to some of our boat clubs gatherings when we can't take the boat.

Re: The pig is home!!

As far as I know, you got the 400 turbo in a one ton even behind the small block.

Well, the pig runs and moves under its own power. Had a heat wave here so went and worked on it a little. Got into the 20s here!!! Actually 36 today. T-shirt wheather almost.
Anyhow, gonna have to do some work on the fuel system all around from sitting too long. The gas i got out so far looked like thin maple syrup and stunk pretty bad...
There is the update...
