Re: Head gaskets question
Stock head gaskets support the over bore. The Fel-Pro gasket package has the dimensions on it. I think the standard gasket bore size for a small block chevy is 4.100.

Re: Head gaskets question
You will have to get head gaskets specifically for a SB400. They have the steam holes unlike other SBC head gaskets. The bores of the gaskets will varl slightly. Just be sure you get gaskets with a bore bigger than what your block will be. And depending on what you're doing and how detailed you want to be, the compressed thickness is something to pay attention to as well.
