Thumbs up Gas prices today!!!

I left Myrtle Beach SC today headed back to Liberty SC. 5 hr drive and this is what I noticed. Gas in Myrtle beach was $2.05 as I drove further west it went up to $2.19. As I came into Greenville county it dropped to $1.96!!!

As I got closer to home it back to $2.09 again. I filled up for $2.09!!!!

I should have stopped at the $1.96 station but I had about 1/2 tank still.

So what's it selling for in your neck of the woods today?

Re: Gas prices today!!!

In the last week and half ours on average has dropped from 2.15 to 2.03 today. With all the unrest on the other side of the world I don't know what is leading to this sudden price reduction.

Last time I was in Wichita it was $2.08. Here in Podunk, USA it is $2.11 Makes a bit of extra $$ left after a fill up for sure. Being retired I don't drive the 75 mile daily round trip I used to when working.

Of course you do. What is happening in Iowa today? I expect someone will take full credit for it tomorrow night on all the TV networks.

Well you are right. Elections coming up. I do appreciate the drop but this much this fast disturbs me. I'm afraid it will swing back upward and go way the other way too.

Hey Rene. $3.05 for the cheaps? I guess that is a good bit less for ya'll though too isn't it?

You know it will! It's not a coincidence, and you know they're not going to let all that profit just go out the window. They'll "tax" you on the back-side for the discount you're seeing now (and add a little extra on for good measure).

I passed my three usual stations on the way into work. $2.31, $2.28, and $2.59. I can't get under $2.20 without driving 3-5 miles out, or until my Kroger card racks up enough for a 10¢/gal discount.

Re: Gas prices today!!!

neighbor works for chevron refineries across town, harbor is full of them yet local chevron station is $3.50 - $3.80

still six more years to retire but already working on the farm getting some things ready..

got this 3000 gallon dilapidated mess removed and replaced with 1000 gallons on a slab..

much easier for my mom, she had to stand on those blocks to reach anything.. and a lot less maintenance..

bulk is definitely the way to go, especially in a free state!

Re: Gas prices today!!!

I don't believe these prices everyone is giving. In Maryland all fuel prices end with a stupid .9

I think our prices are the same, around $2.49.9

With ethanol I wondered if people still bought bulk, unless they went through the tank fairly quickly. Same with today's diesel

have to ask mom for sure what they dropped last time but they show premium without ethanol.. older tractors used to get ethyl when it was available so fairly sure they drop highest octane available..

pretty sure she buys red dye because all of the diesels are off highway tractors.. not sure if that's available in winter blend.. good question..

http://johnmooreoil.com/products.htm

some parts of the farm business my folks took care of that I'm just not savvy, I was pretty much a grunt.. since dad passed I'm just keeping up best I can 1800 miles away

the 886 is enclosed cab so neighbor friend has the grader blade on it now.. only recall a few rare occasions below zero even plugged in that it wouldn't start.. those were c o l d days on the 706 plowing out to the nearest graded road, sometimes 2-3 miles to the highway if neighbors hadn't got to it yet..

I always wondered if the stations had all those tank in the ground back then. I was back home in the early 2000 when a old gas station was being torn down and everybody was raising kane because they only had 2 tanks in the ground. Guess what they where?

They had the multi blends but only 2 tanks!

Re: Gas prices today!!!

I was told that the newer regs were going to force the tanks above ground. Not sure of when the enforcement date is. I know my local gas station has diesel and kerosene above with the gas tanks below. I think I payed around 2.19 a gallon for low test and 2.84 for diesel a few days ago. I did see prices on diesel dropping though. Ironically diesel could drop down to 2.00 a gallon and my closet big town would still be 2.79.

Re: Gas prices today!!!

That was my favorite fuel, too.

KB,. Can't beat those red tractors. My neighbor runs a 1086 Turbo on his place (dairy). Our road is the county line and seems to be low priority, especially when it comes to snow plowing. I remember we had a big snow in the late-80s. 30" IIRC. I think it was the second day, Jeff and his brother cleared the road for the milk truck. He backed that thing on up the road with the back blade and his brother cleaned and widened with the skid steer (Gehl). No waiting for the county. had to get that milk out!
