Replacing wheel bearings
I just picked up a 1990 V2500 suburban this week with 243000 miles, I want to replace all the wheel bearings, is there anything I need to know (e.g. specail tools and or parts or tricks)? Thanks !!

Re: Replacing wheel bearings
One thing I like is a tool that allows you to grease the bearings with a grease gun. It's a couple of conical pieces that you place the bearing between, and then screw together. The threaded part has a Zerk fitting on one end and you grease the bearing through that fitting. It's messy, but so is putting the grease in the palm of your hand and working it into the bearing.
Aside from that, most of the irksome stuff I've seen involves the bearing races that are scored and/or hard to remove. Don't forget the seals that go into the backside of the rotor.

Re: Replacing wheel bearings
Also, if you intend to put new rotors/hub on, the races are already installed. I learned this the paranoid way. lol I hear getting old races out can be a hassle though, and you need to replace the races (well I would). Good luck and get ready to get greasy!
