700R4 TV setup and pressures (TV Made EZ)
Well, I have put about 3000 miles on this rebuilt 700R4 in my 72 burb since installation and my paranoia got the better of me, so I bought and installed the TV Made EZ system from Bowtie overdrives. (this is not one of their trannys).
So I installed the system at the carb, and also the plunger spring in the tranny (dropped the pan, pulled the old one out and popped this one in). Set it all up per the instructions on the website (printed out and included in the box). All pretty simple. Hooked up my pressure gauge and took all the pressures per their procedure. Called them this morning to check that the pressures were good and thought I would post them here as when I searched I could not find anything concrete. So here goes: (my tranny is a stock rebuild (stage1), with just some strength upgrades): Also checked that I got a pressure spike with a tug on the cable and that I was getting WOT at the carb when pedal was depressed. Transmission pressure at idle with TV cable connected: Park - 75psi Rev - 120psi Neu - 75psi OD - 75psi 3rd - 75psi 2nd - 180psi 1st - 180psi Transmission pressure at idle with TV cable Disconnected: Park - 140psi Rev - 220psi Neu - 140psi OD - 140psi 3rd - 140psi 2nd - 180psi 1st - 180psi Transmission pressure at high idle (1500rpm) with TV cable pulled: Park - 150psi Rev - 240psi Neu - 140psi OD - 145psi 3rd - 155psi 2nd - 180psi 1st - 180psi I haven't driven it yet, but plan to this afternoon. Hope this helps someone who doesn't have access to a tranny guy.
