Fuel selector valve questions...

I have a 1980 k10 that I'm going through and it appears that the PO bypassed the fuel tank selector valve. I decided to replace it with a new one and I'm having a hard time finding the oe part. It looks like the original 6 port 1 wire valve is no longer available. I can only find the 6 port multil wire universal set up. Can I tie the return lines together or just plug them off and use the 3 port 1 wire valve that is readily available or can I use this 6 port universal one and tie into the existing one wire set up without having to run all of the other wires?
