External to internal regulator problems...help!!!!

I've done some reading here on the forums before I attempted to upgrade my '72, so I'm not exactly coming into this cold. I have a known good alternator from my '82 c10 and I bought a adapter kit from M&H. I had read that there are times that the adapter wires are not put in the terminals correctly and mine was crossed & I corrected them. I followed the directions, seemed plenty simple and now the truck won't start.....no crank, no lights, etc. I have power from the battery, power to the fuse block and power to the alternator. I'm lost...it cranked & started like a champ a couple of days ago whend the fuel pump went south. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
