valve spring shim question

well i messed up and forgot to shim my springs to the proper installed height before putting in new valve seals...with the seals in, i can not remove the lower spring cup to put shims under the cup...Is it ok for shims to be "in" the cup and just under the valve spring? My shims ID will allow them to go over my seals without removing..Im afraid that ill ruin the new seals if i remove them and i dont want to deal with that..
