2WD to 4x4 conversion

I searched the forum but couldn't find an answer.....

I have a 1968 C10 Suburban that I want to convert to 4x4.

My C10 currently has coil springs in the rear....

Can I swap out the coils in the rear and front for leaf springs to run 4x4?

I prefer to keep original frame

Will be swapping in a diesel also if that matters.

Aren't 2WD and 4x4 frames the same & I could swap out spring hangers etc?

Is there an upgrade to latter model 73 & up suspension?

Thanks in advance.
