Re: GMC 1963 v6 plaid valve covers anyinfo???
sicboy i agree about the for sale i would think the items for sale would bring more members to the site instead of sending them to ebay i personally would rather sell some parts to a member of the forum to help them out than go through the motions of ebay that is just my opinion not trying to shake things up!!

The 62-63 cluster had the clock and Bat-O-Meter option. The 64-66 cluster had the Tach and Bat-O-Meter option. Here is a link with a lot of info about the GMC options... http://www.6066gmcguy.org/cluster.htm

Re: GMC 1963 v6 plaid valve covers anyinfo???
Here is an update idea I took off the factory look using ALL analog gauges. I did not want to trust idiot light, So I simple had the panel incert made to fit he natural layout of Dials vs. idiot lights.
I too have the 12 volts clock and Tach inst.

Re: GMC 1963 v6 plaid valve covers anyinfo???
Any updates on what they went for? $$$
Info: This 67 also has those covers so I don't think they're exclusive to the 63. Post #19 & #20 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=370767 Last edited by Joemomma1; 11-09-2009 at 09:17 PM. |

Re: GMC 1963 v6 plaid valve covers anyinfo???
Did not quite get the question, but the VC was simply a gimmick from GMC to show thriftyness (1 poss. reason). Personally I get about 10 -12 miles to the gallon with the engine off and rolling down hill!
(2nd. poss. reason) was to show that the engine was changed as far as the carb goes. It's one of those lost to history moments? Maybe I'll contact GM/GMC to put a fire under their butt to see if they can did anything up on it.

Re: GMC 1963 v6 plaid valve covers anyinfo???
I paid about $120 for the plaids I got off ebay so I guess you did pretty good with the sale. As for the 67 with plaids, they where probably put on by one of it's owners.

Re: GMC 1963 v6 plaid valve covers anyinfo???
Rare, indeed, because not many were made and they were installed at the dealer level, to indicate the motor had the "recall" mods done to it.
Desireable is a matter of taste and opinion. What is desireable to one guy is, not necessarily, desirebale to the next guy. To some, the plaid valve covers are both rare and desireable. Although they can be found on eBay, from time to time, they can be difficult to acquire, at a reasonable price. |
